The Malibu Wakesetter 25 LSV is solidly built and has all the features of a modern luxury wakeboat. Seating for 19 people and huge ballast numbers mean the 25 LSV has meaty wakes, which is impossible to deny.

Surf whichever side you choose when you select with the Surf Band, a wearable remote control that handles not only the surf side but also the Power Wedge and the speed within a few miles per hour. The Power Wedge is an important component because it can take the wake from a long and mellow ramp to a steep and tall kick, or anywhere in between. The Power Wedge also boosts the boat on takeoff to make for faster hole shots with far less bow rise than would otherwise be possible with this huge hull.

Control all this wake-shaping tech from your Surf Band or from the helm at the 12-inch center touchscreen and 7-inch auxiliary screen. Or, if you’re feeling analog, take control with the rotary dial and hot keys.

The interior is immaculate with luxury touches that make this boat as fun to be in as it is to be behind. An aft bench-style seat easily converts into a rear-facing seat, flip-down armrests make bow passengers more comfortable, flip-up seat backs give everyone a view of the action, LED lighting sets the mood, and there’s a speaker just about everywhere you look. Above, the tower makes for a solid tow point with state-of-the-art honeycomb interior construction. The tower has Fold Assist so you can lower it by yourself, and simple locks will never leave you frustrated.

Malibu's Wakesetter 25 LSV provides a large, clean wake.

With Malibu, it’s all about producing the perfect wake, whether you’re surfing, skating or wakeboarding behind one of its boats. The Wakesetter 25 LSV, Malibu’s biggest boat, strives to provide this — with a large, clean wake.

The Wakesetter 25 employs a ballast system that can total up to 1,825 pounds of wake-producing weight thanks to the rigid built-in tanks located below both the bow and stern. For the truly hardcore watersports enthusiasts, more ballast bags can easily be added via proprietary Plug and Play connections. Additional wake-boosting capability comes from Malibu’s exclusive Power Wedge II. This optional transom-mount hydrofoil helps the boat climb onto plane in “lift” mode, then creates a bigger wake when it is set to the “rider” position. Combined with the optional, stylish G4 watersports tower that anchors the tow rope high above the cockpit, the Wakesetter is fully capable of launching riders high off the wake.

Want to surf instead? Malibu’s patented Surf Gate, a set of twin vertical tabs that lie adjacent to the swim platform, shape the wake for a clean, powerful and eminently surfable wave. It doesn’t matter if you surf regular or goofy foot. When the port or starboard gate is extended outward, it disrupts the convergent point of water coming off the hull sides, further boosting and cleaning up the wake’s shape on a rider’s preferred side. Thanks to the fast-acting gates, switching the focus from one side of the wake to the other takes mere seconds and enables skilled surfers to work both the left and right sides without pausing to shift ballast.

Creature comforts? The Wakesetter 25 LSV has all that, too. Wraparound cockpit seating can hold up to 19 people, enough to give any rider a large audience. Flip over the aft bench for a front-row view of the action in the boat’s wake. Our test boat featured an Indmar 6.2L Monsoon 450 HO for propulsion. With the ballast tanks drained, it climbed onto plane in 4.6 seconds, powered to 30 mph in 7.4 seconds, and hit a top speed of just over 37 mph.

The Malibu Wakesetter 25 LSV is unquestionably the line’s new flagship. It’s 25 feet of roomy, luxurious traditional bow that’s fresh for 2016 and puts an accent on wake performance. This is for anyone demanding la crème de la crème in wake, surf and tech.

The 25 LSV has a moldable wakeboard and wakesurf wake straight from the dealer, and it’s all thanks to the Surf Gate, Power Wedge and Surf Band. The Power Wedge not only beefs up your wake and directs the boat’s running attitude, but it also lifts the back of the boat out of the water for faster hole shots and better fuel economy. Surf Gate continues to impress for 2016 with advanced features that let you surf the boat evenly weighted, and the new Surf Band lets you control the wave’s characteristics, as well as when it transfers from side to side. The G4 is tower technology incarnate. A honeycomb interior construction creates the pinnacle of rigidity, the locking feature is simple, and the wiring is integrated into the structure to maintain a seamless exterior. The dash got some tweaks for 2016 that made it even more refined. The menus were simplified in the 12-inch center touchscreen as well as the 7-inch auxiliary screen, and the multifunction rotary switch is just as handy as last year to nudge settings while running down the lake.
